When the holidays started I promised myself that I was going to start posting more photos and blog entries. Here is a photo of the girls from Thanksgiving.
SharePoint 2010, enable pdf search crawls
Today, I had to configure SharePoint 2010 to crawl Adobe PDF files. SharePoint 2010 Search doesn’t crawl pdf files by default. Here are the steps as copied from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2293357
Configure Adobe iFilter based on steps mentioned below:
- Install PDF iFilter 9.0 (64 bit) from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4025 (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4025)
- Download PDF icon picture from Adobe web site http://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html (http://www.adobe.com/misc/linking.html) and copied at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\IMAGES\
- Add the following entry in docIcon.xml file, which can be found at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML
- Add pdf file type on the File Type page under Search Service Application
- Open regedit
- Navigate to the following location:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\14.0\Search\Setup\ContentIndexCommon\Filters\Extension
- Right-click > Click New > Key to create a new key for .pdf
- Add the following GUID in the default value {
E8978DA6-047F-4E3D-9C78-CDBE46041603} - Restart the SharePoint Server Search
- Reboot the SharePoint servers in Farm
- Create a Test site (with any out-of-box site template) and create a document library upload any sample PDF document(s).
- Perform FULL Crawl to get search result.
- Once the crawl is completed we will to get search results.
Fall Soccer is Well Under Way
Catherine and Paige have both played in their jamborees and are into their regular season schedule. Catherine’s team is playing in the upper division of a 4th and 5th grade league. They are currently 7 and 0 including their 4 jamboree games. Paige is playing U10 soccer and they 2-0-2 including their jamboree. Paige’s is team is mostly 3rd graders in what is essentially a 3rd and 4th grade league.

But beware; sometimes they can turn their back on you.
They say “Go away!”
You’re hurt and confused.
You think, “What did I do wrong,
now what do I do?”
But realize you can make new friends,
a better friendship that never ends.
Understand now that friends can fight and friends can play.
You can learn from your fights and become a better friend every day.
Just because you have a disagreement with your friend
doesn’t mean your friendship should become a Forever End.
Lightning Soccer
Catherine and Paige had good games today. The weather was a little nicer today which made the games even more fun. Here is a video that Vicki got of Catherine scoring a goal today.
Happy Easter!
Easter was a mini Christmas. The Easter bunny left Easter goodies for the kids, Grandma sent the girls a movie, Chipmunks the Squeakel. I just can’t wait to watch that. 
Last night we gave Vicki an early birthday present, a Kodak Playsport video camera. It’s awesome! It is small, lightweight, and takes HD quality video. Here’s a video from this morning.
